This year we are using, with gratitude, material from Disrupt Worship Project. The series focuses “on The Characteristics of White Supremacy Culture as we understand it through the work of Tema Okun, presented through Dismantling Racism Works. These were written for organizations to examine how white supremacy lives in organizational behaviors and structure, but they are also useful for examining our own individual behaviors and certainly affect how we operate as congregations and denominations.”
Dive into the material using the
2021 Lenten Weekly Supplement.
If you join us for Sunday worship at 10:30 am on Zoom or YouTube, the
Lent 2021 Worship Bulletin will also contain elements of the theme.
For each Sunday, different characteristics of White Supremacy Culture are highlighted throughout the service. In the week before worship, you might spend some time reading and reflecting on the characteristics and antidotes. You could pick one point and do some journal reflection or discuss it with a friend. If you attend the virtual Soup Suppers on Thursdays in Lent, there will be some guided conversation in small groups on the theme for that upcoming Sunday.
In place of our in-person Soup Suppers, this year we’ll gather for about 30 minutes of conversation and prayer to accompany your home supper. We’ll explore a question related to the theme, share what soup we’re enjoying and end in prayer.
