St. John United is part of Lutheran Youth of North Seattle (LYONS), a cooperative youth ministry program for youth in middle school and high school.
LYONS supports young Christians as they journey through Confirmation to High School Graduation and beyond, providing a supportive community, events that inspire and challenge in a fun and relaxed environment, allowing our youth to explore what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century. LYONS programming includes fun activities, service, worship and education. Summer trips are an annual highlight. The other churches that are currently supporting members of LYONS include Phinney Ridge Lutheran, Ballard First, and Queen Anne Lutheran.
LYONS offices are housed at St. John United and the program is staffed by Jon Ross, Director, and Megan Hundley, Assistant Director.
St. John United also participates in a confirmation program in conjunction with the other LYONS churches. Through retreats, small group work, mentor-relationships and service, this one year program engages middle school young people in what it means to be a Christian in today’s world. At the conclusion of the program, the youth have the opportunity to affirm their baptism in a special worship service with the other congregations in the program.
