Children are a treasured part our congregation and are included in many activities of the congregation from work days to helping with worship.

Our Sunday School meets during the school year, usually from mid-September through mid-May, at 9:45 AM and includes children ages 4 through 11. In recent years, our focus for learning has included the global issues of malaria and water in addition to bible stories. The children have been involved in taking leadership for educating the wider congregation and for raising funds for anti-malaria work and water projects.

During December, our children prepare a Christmas pageant which they present to the congregation during worship the Sunday before Christmas.

Our goal in our Christian education program for children is to nurture their understanding of God’s love for them and for all creation, their awareness of their identity as baptized children of God, and their commitment to following the way of Jesus in their daily life.

St. John United also has a number of annual events especially geared to children and families including an Easter egg hunt, swim night, cider-pressing, and pumpkin carving.
